Step into a dynamic contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting elementary students for the 2026-2027 academic year. This assignment runs from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027, offering a stable Monday–Friday schedule with 35 hours per week (7:00 am–2:30 pm). You will play a vital role in facilitating communication and accessibility for a student at Troutman Elementary by providing expert interpretation services from the start of each school day.

What we’re looking for:

  • Current state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or possession of RID certification
  • Experience in K-12 educational settings is preferred
  • Outstanding proficiency in ASL and commitment to professional confidentiality
  • Ability to be punctual and prepared prior to student arrival each day
  • Onsite availability only (no virtual work permitted)

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one interpreting services for an elementary student throughout the school day
  • Foster inclusive communication, ensuring active student participation
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administration to address student needs
  • Prepare for student arrival each morning, ensuring readiness to engage
  • Adhere to ethical codes as set forth by RID and educational interpreting standards
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records as required by the role
