About the Opportunity
Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to support students in a school-based setting in Morganton, NC. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by facilitating communication and ensuring equal access to educational instruction and school activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Position Responsibilities
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students during classroom instruction, meetings, and school-related activities.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
Interpret educational content accurately while maintaining the integrity and intent of the message.
- Support student participation in academic, extracurricular, and social activities.
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to promote student success.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
- Attend IEP meetings and educational planning sessions as needed.
- Assist in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
- Follow ethical standards and professional guidelines established for sign language interpreters.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Ability to accurately interpret and transliterate educational content.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
Preferred
EIPA score meeting state or district requirements.
RID Certification or equivalent interpreting credentials.
Previous experience interpreting in a Kâ12 school setting.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or a related field.
Knowledge of educational terminology and special education processes.
