Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or educational settings preferred
- Ability to interpret simultaneously and consecutively in various classroom and school activities
- Hold relevant national certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, students, and families
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Daily Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation between students, staff, and other stakeholders in classroom lessons, meetings, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Assist in facilitating student participation in educational programs, ensuring equal access to the curriculum
- Work closely with educational staff to adapt communication styles for diverse needs
- Prepare for specialized vocabulary or subject matter in advance to ensure smooth communication
- Support and advocate for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, enhancing their engagement and understanding
- Maintain accurate records of interpreted assignments as needed
