Qualifications and Experience:

  • Credentials/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state and/or national preferred)
  • Prior experience interpreting in K-12 schools is a strong plus

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying classroom and student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students during instruction, activities, and school events
  • Work in partnership with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure students’ educational needs are met
  • Prepare for classes and sessions by reviewing educational materials and terminology in advance
  • Support inclusive learning environments through cultural competence and professional conduct
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to best practices for privacy and student advocacy
