Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Mount Prospect, IL

This contract opportunity supports students in the Northwest suburban area for the 2026–2027 school year, with assignments beginning August 19, 2026 and concluding between June 1 and June 4, 2027, depending on your assigned school. Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience interpreting in an educational or school setting preferred
• Ability to facilitate clear communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff
• Openness to collaborating with education teams, parents, and support staff
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities
• Commitment to supporting student learning and inclusion

What you'll do:

• Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, activities, assemblies, and meetings
• Adapt interpreting style to meet the unique needs of each student
• Collaborate closely with teachers, case managers, and paraprofessionals to support students’ academic goals
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for educational interpreters
• Participate in school-related training and professional development as necessary
• Help ensure all students have equitable access to curriculum and school life
