Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting
- EIPA 4.0 or National Interpreter Certification (NIC); or willingness to obtain Kentucky licensure if certified out-of-state
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and sensitivity to students’ communication needs
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability in classroom environments
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing interpretation services for students and staff during instructional and extracurricular activities
- Supporting communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school personnel
- Ensuring accurate and ethical interpretation in compliance with district and legal guidelines
- Collaborating with educators to adapt materials and assignments as needed
- Facilitating inclusive learning experiences to promote student engagement
