This full-time Sign Language Interpreter position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with a 5th-grade elementary student who has cochlear implants. The role requires dedication to providing one-on-one ASL interpretation services in a supportive school environment. The position is a contract for the current school year (CSY) and is based in Naperville, IL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a 5th-grade student.
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with educational staff to support the student’s learning experience.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Educational Interpreter Services (EIS) license or an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, specifically with ASL.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, committed full-time to the position.
- Strong communication skills and a student-centered approach.
