Make a meaningful impact supporting students’ educational access in a collaborative school environment by providing expert Sign Language Interpretation. This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals who thrive in academic settings, are passionate about communication accessibility, and possess the necessary credentials.

Three positions are available:

  • Full-time at a middle school (35 hours/week)
  • Part-time at a high school (20 hours/week)
  • Full-time at an elementary school (35 hours/week)

Applicants should have experience working with children or adolescents in school settings and enjoy building rapport with both students and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a current EIPA score of at least 3.5 with ISBE certification, or a 3.0+ EIPA with IBSE approval
  • Expertise in American Sign Language and the ability to accurately interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school environments preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusion and access

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and effective Sign Language interpretation during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and special education teams to support each student’s learning objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards within educational settings
  • Adjust interpreting techniques based on student needs and learning styles
  • Participate in IEP meetings and professional development when required
