Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in K-12 school settings
• Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom routines
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and students
• RID certification or EIPA credential preferred
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism

Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret spoken English into ASL (and vice versa) during lessons, activities, and meetings
• Support student participation by facilitating clear communication among students, educators, and peers
• Adapt interpreting techniques to match the unique needs of each student
• Maintain documentation as required by educational standards and protocols
• Serve as a positive resource and advocate for students’ language access needs
