Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional certification or state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (or eligibility)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken classroom instruction, discussions, and activities into ASL for students
  • Facilitate two-way communication between students, staff, and peers
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and educational teams to support student learning goals
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards set forth for interpreters
  • Provide feedback to staff about communication strategies and student progress as appropriate
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and school events as requested
