Step into a rewarding opportunity as an ASL Language Facilitator supporting students in an urban, diverse school district near New Haven, CT. This contract role runs from August 27, 2026, through June 11, 2027, offering full-time hours (32.5 hours/week). Two positions are open: one working 1:1 with a preschooler and the other with a 5th grader. Your work will be deeply meaningful as you facilitate communication, tutor students, and ensure comprehension of classroom material, focusing on enriching their ASL vocabulary and empowering academic engagement.

Key Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential
  • Previous experience working in a school environment is highly valued
  • RID and/or EIPA certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Adaptability to support students at different developmental stages
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working closely with teachers and support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 interpretation and language support for assigned student
  • Tutor and reinforce classroom instruction to foster deeper understanding
  • Assist students in building ASL vocabulary and comprehension
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Teacher of the Deaf to adapt and deliver curriculum
  • Chart student progress and adapt facilitation strategies as needed
  • Participate in a virtual interview to determine the best student match and discuss your preferred age group
