Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience interpreting in an educational or school setting preferred
  • Comfortable working 1:1 in a classroom environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person, real-time interpretation between student, peers, and staff throughout the school day
  • Facilitate understanding during lessons, classroom discussions, and extracurricular activities
  • Adapt communication styles to meet the individual needs of the student
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical interpreting practices
