What You’ll Need:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school environment
  • Ability to support communication between students, staff, and teachers
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professionalism when working with student information
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Appropriate state or national certification (such as EIPA, RID, or relevant credential)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services to facilitate clear communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and related support staff to ensure full student participation
  • Adapt interpretation methods to suit individual student needs and educational settings
  • Assist with school activities, meetings, and events requiring interpretation services
  • Maintain accuracy, impartiality, and professional boundaries at all times
  • Support students’ academic and social development by ensuring access to all instructional material and classroom dialogue
