Key Qualifications:

  • VQAS Level 3 certification or EIPA score of 3.0 or above (required)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience interpreting in K-12 school settings preferred
  • Flexibility to work with a range of age groups—elementary through high school
  • Strong understanding of educational interpreting best practices
  • Ability to foster positive, respectful relationships with students and staff
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, and reliability

Role Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction and school activities for four designated students (K, 2nd, 10th, and 12th grades)
  • Serve as a communication bridge between students, teachers, peers, and support staff
  • Adapt interpreting style to match each student’s language needs and learning goals
  • Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality at all times
  • Attend required meetings and participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) discussions as needed
  • Provide ongoing feedback to educational teams about student progress and interpreting effectiveness
