Step into a pivotal role supporting student learning and language access as an ASL Language Facilitator for the 2026-2027 school year! Two full-time contract opportunities are available, serving a vibrant, diverse student population in an urban school district near Norwalk, CT. Positions will run from August 27th, 2026, through June 11th, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 32.5 hours.
You’ll work in a dedicated 1:1 capacity—one role partnering with a preschool student, and the other with a 5th grader. Beyond interpreting, responsibilities include tutoring, reinforcing material comprehension, expanding ASL vocabulary, and supporting language development so students can participate fully in their academic environment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings is highly preferred
- RID certification and/or EIPA score are a plus, but not required
- Comfort working as a 1:1 facilitator in tutoring and interpretive capacities
- Adaptability to partner with students of different age ranges
- Passion for fostering student success and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a communication bridge for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student in classroom, small-group, and one-on-one settings
- Provide consistent interpretive services, as well as direct ASL language support
- Tutor to ensure academic understanding and language growth
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff
- Contribute to a supportive, inclusive educational environment
