Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing vital communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter for elementary-aged students. Spanning the full academic year, this position focuses on facilitating understanding and inclusion for early childhood through third-grade students in a dynamic learning environment.
Your day will be diverse and engaging, as you interpret for students involved in both mainstream classes and designated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) settings. Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and service providers to ensure accessibility and full participation in all aspects of school life. This role provides the chance to make a measurable impact each day while partnering with a committed, student-centered team.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting within educational environments
- Experience supporting students from early childhood through third grade
- Familiarity with mainstream and DHH classroom settings
- Ability to work effectively with educators, specialists, and parents
- Adaptability to meet the needs of various students throughout the school day
- Strong communication and professionalism
Daily responsibilities include:
- Providing one-on-one and group interpretation for students between EC and 3rd grade
- Facilitating clear communication between students, teachers, and service providers
- Supporting full integration for DHH students in both specialized and general education classrooms
- Adapting interpreting techniques based on student needs and instructional context
- Maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
This contract spans from July 29 to May 25, following a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:05 AM to 3:35 PM.
