Sign Language Interpreter in Oak Forest, IL

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant, inclusive school setting for the full academic year. This contract position offers the chance to work with various students from Early Childhood through 3rd grade, enriching classroom experiences and collaborating with dedicated professionals.

Role Overview:

• Provide sign language interpretation across mainstream classrooms and DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) settings.
• Work directly with individual students and small groups, adapting to varied communication needs throughout the day.
• Support instruction and learning by facilitating effective communication between students, staff, and service providers.
• Partner with teachers and service providers to enhance learning outcomes and classroom inclusion.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, with experience in educational environments preferred.
• Comfort interpreting in a range of instructional settings, including mainstream and specialized classrooms.
• Ability to build rapport with early childhood and elementary-aged students.
• Flexibility to work with multiple students and classrooms throughout the school day.
• Collaborative spirit for working alongside faculty and service providers to support student success.

Key Details:

• Full academic year commitment: July 29 – May 25.
• Work schedule: 8:05 AM – 3:35 PM.
• Serve EC-3rd grade students in a welcoming, dynamic school community.
