Qualifications:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong command of English
• Experience interpreting in educational settings, especially K-12 environments
• Ability to adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Ethics
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credentials preferred
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Adaptability and professionalism when supporting a diverse student population

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for students who require sign language services
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers to promote full inclusion
• Provide interpretation services during meetings, assemblies, and extracurricular events as needed
• Support individualized education plans (IEPs) by working closely with special education staff
• Maintain confidentiality and a safe environment for all students
• Adjust interpreting techniques to suit various educational contexts and student needs
