Key Qualifications:

• EIPA score of 2.5 or higher, or a relevant degree demonstrating ASL fluency
• Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret proficiently (assessment required during interview)
• Previous experience in educational settings or working with school-aged children preferred
• Professional, reliable, and compassionate with excellent communication skills
• Commitment to ensuring equity and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, real-time interpretation for a deaf elementary school student during the instructional day (8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday)
• Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, classmates, and other school staff
• Use age-appropriate language and cultural sensitivity in all interpreting situations
• Adapt interpreting techniques to classroom dynamics and individual student needs
• Support the student’s engagement and participation in classroom and school activities
