This full-time, onsite position plays a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to education for all students by fostering clear and effective communication between students, peers, teachers, and staff. Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, or a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment
  • Candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 will also be considered (in an ASL Paraeducator capacity)
  • Proficient in both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting
  • Experience supporting students in elementary or intermediate school preferred
  • Ability to facilitate communication across diverse classroom activities, including academic and community-based settings
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and committed to student success

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for students, staff, and peers
  • Assist students academically, supporting them in reading, writing, math, and other areas of instruction
  • Encourage student participation in both classroom and community activities
  • Monitor and assist students during school events, outdoor activities, and transitions
  • Partner with educators, therapists, and support staff to help meet student learning goals
  • Support the development of both academic and life skills in young learners

The role is based onsite, approximately 30 hours per week, for the full school year. Preference for elementary or intermediate grades will be accommodated when possible.
