Sign Language Interpreter in Overland Park, KS

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a vibrant, inclusive learning environment. This full-time role extends from now through May 2027, with the possibility of serving during the Extended School Year. Collaborate with educational professionals in a dynamic school setting, working closely with a 4th-grade student who is embarking on their journey as a new ASL learner. The position follows a consistent Monday to Friday schedule, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., situated conveniently near Overland Park, KS.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current licensure with the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Minimum score of 4.0 or higher on Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
• Solid foundation in American Sign Language, with a focus on conveying educational curriculum
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Commitment to supporting students’ growth and classroom engagement

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective ASL interpretation for a 4th-grade student throughout the school day
• Foster a supportive, engaging, and accessible learning experience
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure the student’s successful integration and inclusion
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical boundaries in all interactions
• Aid in the development of communication strategies tailored to the student's evolving needs
• Address any required interpretation during meetings, activities, and school events
