This position is based on-site, ensuring direct engagement with both students and staff. You’ll work one-on-one, facilitating effective communication for a young learner and collaborating closely with educators to promote inclusion and academic success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credential required
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting within educational settings, preferably at the elementary level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism at all times
  • Flexible mindset and commitment to supporting students with unique needs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation for an elementary student during class activities, special programs, and school interactions
  • Assist teachers and school staff in creating accessible learning experiences
  • Adapt interpreting methods to match the student’s learning style and classroom demands
  • Foster an inclusive educational environment by bridging communication between the student, peers, and staff
  • Maintain accurate records of interpreting services and student progress as directed
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate on strategies for student engagement and development
