Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
- Ability to effectively support young learners in academic, social, and emotional contexts
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative spirit for working with teachers, staff, and families
- Familiarity with the unique needs of language facilitation for non-traditional ASL users
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, peers, and school personnel
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classroom activities, lessons, and social interactions
- Support the student's understanding of curriculum content, classroom routines, and social cues
- Partner with educators to develop strategies that align with the student's learning goals
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
