A rewarding position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication access in an educational environment. This role involves providing interpreting services in schools, ensuring that students with hearing impairments receive equal opportunities to participate fully in classroom activities and school events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, teachers, and peers.
  • Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to tailor communication approaches to individual student needs.
  • Attend IEP meetings and other educational assessments to provide accurate interpretation.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Travel to various school locations as required to meet student and school needs.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings.
  • Familiarity with the academic environment and understanding of educational terminology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel within the district.
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred.

Location: Based in Papillion, NE, this role involves travel to multiple school sites to support students across the district.
