This full-time, on-site position offers approximately 30 hours per week (6 hours daily) within vibrant elementary and intermediate school settings. You’ll work closely with deaf and hard of hearing students, their teachers, and school personnel to facilitate effective communication and foster an inclusive learning environment. Positions are immediately available and will continue throughout the 26-27 school year—choose your preferred age group for a personalized experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment.
- Candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 are encouraged to apply and may be considered for an ASL Para role.
- Proficiency in both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpreting.
- Experience supporting academic subjects and promoting student independence in the classroom and beyond.
- Ability to collaborate with educators, monitor student engagement across various settings, and encourage skill development.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and school activities to bridge communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and the broader school community.
- Assist students with academic and, where needed, vocational/life skills in a variety of learning environments.
- Help foster self-advocacy and engagement, both in and out of the classroom.
- Actively participate in school activities, ensuring students’ inclusion and well-being.
