Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Paradise, CA

Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to a dynamic educational environment supporting middle and high school students. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a significant impact as a Sign Language Interpreter, working closely with hard of hearing and deaf students to ensure they can fully participate in classroom and school activities.

Work approximately 30 hours per week onsite, facilitating effective communication between students and educators in both academic and social settings. Depending on your experience and EIPA score, roles are available as either a Sign Language Interpreter or, for those with an EIPA score under 4.0, as an ASL Para.

Key Qualifications:

• Certification from the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf or a minimum score of 4.0 on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment is preferred
• Candidates with an EIPA under 4.0 are encouraged to apply and will be considered for ASL Para positions
• Proficient in sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting
• Experience assisting students with academic and vocational/living skills
• Comfortable supervising students in various settings, including classroom, outdoor, and community activities
• Willingness to work onsite only and commit to a full school year

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting services to facilitate communication between students, peers, and school personnel
• Support students’ understanding and participation in academic subjects (reading, writing, math)
• Assist students in developing vocational or independent living skills
• Monitor students during classroom and extracurricular activities
• Collaborate with educators and staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
