An exciting opportunity awaits for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter who is passionate about supporting student achievement in an educational environment. This full-time contract position offers the chance to work one-on-one with a student, providing essential American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services throughout the academic year.
You’ll be engaged in a dedicated 1:1 setting during regular school hours (7 hours per day, 35 hours per week), following the student calendar for a total of 180 days. The contract begins as soon as possible and continues through June 18, 2027, offering stability and the rewarding experience of building lasting connections.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent interpreting experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated success in 1:1 and/or small group educational settings
- 75% or higher score on the EIPA written and a minimum of 4.0 on the EIPA performance assessment, or hold an active NIC or RID certification
- Comprehensive knowledge of sign language interpretation techniques
- Commitment to facilitating effective communication and fostering inclusion
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one interpretation for a student in the classroom and throughout the school day
- Accurately convey spoken communication into ASL and vice versa
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure equal access to instruction and activities
- Support student participation and engagement within the educational setting
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality
