Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter supporting student success in an educational setting near Peabody, MA. This full-time role begins as soon as possible, providing essential interpreting services during a 5-week extended school year program, with the added prospect of continuing into the next academic year. Your expertise will empower students to access their curriculum, fostering inclusion and communication.

You’ll be working closely with a student who currently benefits from a Teacher of the Deaf and utilizes both an FM system and cochlear implants. Your support will be integral to the student’s educational journey, helping bridge communication and provide equitable access.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Prior experience interpreting in an educational environment is strongly desired
  • Knowledge of working with assistive listening devices, such as FM systems and cochlear implants
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff
  • Current certification or equivalent credentials for educational interpreting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time sign language interpretation for classroom instruction, activities, and school events
  • Support effective communication between students, educators, and peers
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the needs of students using cochlear implants and FM systems
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times
  • Contribute to a collaborative, student-focused learning environment
