Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience interpreting in educational or school settings is preferred
- Familiarity with various levels of student needs and modes of communication
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, collaborative attitude
- Relevant certification or licensure as required by state or federal guidelines
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into sign language and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff to ensure effective classroom communication
- Foster an inclusive learning atmosphere by supporting students with diverse backgrounds
- Assist in IEP or team meetings and support extracurricular activities as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and school policies
- Work cooperatively with instructors, administrators, and families to support student achievement
