Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills in educational settings
• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter; compliance with state and district interpreter requirements
• Experience interpreting for children and adolescents in classroom and extracurricular activities is highly preferred
• Ability to adapt communication style to suit various age groups and communication needs
• Calm, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
• Reliable and punctual; capable of working full days (7 hours, Monday through Friday)

Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation between students, staff, and peers in classrooms and during school events
• Facilitate communication for IEP meetings, assemblies, parent-teacher conferences, and other school functions as needed
• Support students’ academic and social engagement by making information accessible in real time
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure full inclusion of D/deaf and hard of hearing students
• Maintain accurate documentation of interpreting services in accordance with school policies
