Make a meaningful impact by providing direct support to a high school student in an adaptive classroom as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract position, you'll ensure accessible communication for a student using a wheelchair, delivering comprehensive interpreting services tailored to their needs. Working closely with school professionals, you'll help foster an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. This onsite role values in-person interaction, meeting the request of the student's family for face-to-face services.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Credentialed Sign Language Interpreter with experience in educational settings
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (candidates with slightly lower scores may be considered after discussion)
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive and special education classroom environments
  • Comfortable supporting students with multiple needs, including physical disabilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and engage professionally with students, staff, and families
  • Excellent communication, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person sign language interpretation for a high school student in an adaptive classroom
  • Deliver comprehensive communication support services as needed throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and staff to maximize student engagement
  • Adjust interpreting techniques based on student-specific requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of provided services and student progress
  • Await and adapt to additional assignments for 1:1 student interpretation as details become available
