A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support students in a school setting in Portage, MI. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work with a diverse age group, primarily serving secondary education students with severe disabilities. The position starts ASAP and continues through June 5th, 2026, with a commitment of 35 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff
  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and related activities
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion for students with disabilities
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet various classroom settings and student needs across different age groups
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines
