This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to utilize your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter, supporting a middle school child throughout their day. You’ll work a steady schedule from 7:40 AM to 3:30 PM, ensuring consistent support and a reliable routine.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Appropriate certification or licensure for sign language interpretation in educational environments.
  • Previous experience interpreting for school-aged children, preferably at the middle school level.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for a middle school student with hearing loss.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to ensure accessible instruction.
  • Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff to promote social and academic engagement.
  • Adapt interpreting techniques and approach to meet the changing needs of the student throughout the school day.
  • Uphold ethical standards and best practices in educational interpreting.
