Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a part-time Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026/2027 academic year. In this contracted position, you will provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting services for a Pre-K4 student, helping to facilitate seamless communication and a positive early learning experience. The position offers approximately 24 hours of work per week, fostering meaningful connections while maintaining a flexible schedule.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in an educational setting
  • Ability to interpret conversations and classroom activities for young children
  • Comfort working one-on-one within a Pre-K environment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with teachers and support staff
  • Relevant licensure or certification as required by state regulations

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, age-appropriate interpretation for a Pre-K4 student during instructional and non-instructional activities
  • Facilitate understanding between the student, peers, and school staff
  • Support classroom inclusion and engagement throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with educators to adapt interpreting approaches for early childhood comprehension
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism consistent with district and legal requirements
