Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families.
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to support young learners’ varying needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a Pre-K 4 student, facilitating communication between the student, peers, and educators.
- Ensure that classroom instructions, activities, and social interactions are accessible in real-time.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instructional materials as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Monitor the student’s progress and contribute to developing a supportive, inclusive environment.
