Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families.
  • Compassion, patience, and adaptability to support young learners’ varying needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a Pre-K 4 student, facilitating communication between the student, peers, and educators.
  • Ensure that classroom instructions, activities, and social interactions are accessible in real-time.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instructional materials as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Monitor the student’s progress and contribute to developing a supportive, inclusive environment.
