Your skills will promote inclusivity and provide access to high-quality education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

As part of this contract position, you’ll work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to support various campuses as needs arise—ensuring that students receive consistent, top-tier language access.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
• Strongly preferred: Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5+ (candidates with 3.0+ will be considered) or a QAS score of 3 or better
• Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in an educational environment
• Ability to provide 1:1 support for elementary students
• Familiarity with Visaphonics is valued, but not required
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver real-time sign language interpretation services for students during instruction and school activities
• Adapt interpreting style to meet the individual needs and communication preferences of assigned students
• Provide coverage at multiple locations if the primary assigned student is absent
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to foster student engagement and success
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and support a positive learning climate
