Make a direct impact by supporting an 8th grade student as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational environment on a full-time contract assignment. Working closely with educators and staff, you’ll provide essential communication access, allowing the student to fully participate in classroom activities and school life.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with educational interpreting for middle school students.
  • Possess certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent).
  • Previous experience supporting students in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism within an academic environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver real-time sign language interpreting services in a variety of classroom and school-related settings for an 8th grade student.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to understand lesson plans and adapt interpreting strategies for different subjects.
  • Clarify and facilitate classroom discussions, instructions, and peer interactions to promote student understanding and participation.
  • Assist in bridging communication between the student, teachers, and peers to foster an inclusive educational experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments in accordance with school policies.
