Sign Language Interpreter in Puyallup, WA

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and thorough knowledge of interpreting best practices
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational environment
• Ability to facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and staff
• Commitment to ethical interpreting and adherence to confidentiality standards
• Hold applicable state and/or national interpreter certifications as required
• Reliable, punctual, and able to adapt to diverse classroom environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instructions, discussions, and activities faithfully and fluidly
• Bridge communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and peers, teachers, or administrators
• Collaborate with educational teams to support student access and engagement
• Prepare as needed for lessons or special school events to ensure interpreting accuracy
• Foster a supportive, equitable learning environment through professional and culturally responsive communication
• Maintain accurate records as required by the assignment
