Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school or education environments
  • Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and families
  • Familiarity with Deaf culture and best practices for supporting Deaf or hard-of-hearing learners
  • Certification in interpreting or relevant credentials preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, collaborative attitude

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpreting services for students and staff during classroom instruction and school events
  • Foster a welcoming, accessible environment for Deaf/hard-of-hearing students
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure classroom materials and activities are accessible
  • Support student learning and encourage self-advocacy skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Participate in relevant school meetings, IEPs, and professional development
