Step into a pivotal role supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter in a Kindergarten classroom for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to play a key part in foundational American Sign Language (ASL) development with students who are just beginning their ASL journey. The schedule is structured as half-days each school day, providing work-life balance over the course of the 26-27 academic year, with the potential to extend beyond June.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working with children, preferably in educational settings
  • Ability to interpret clearly and simplify concepts for early learners
  • Comfort supporting students who are new to ASL—no complex signing required
  • Appropriate state and national credentials for educational interpreting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing effective, age-appropriate sign language interpretation in a Kindergarten classroom
  • Facilitating communication between students, educators, and staff
  • Encouraging young students’ early language development in a supportive, engaging way
  • Adapting interpreting style to match the learning pace of students new to ASL
  • Collaborating with teachers to create an inclusive, accessible classroom culture
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
