Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to support students with communication needs in an educational setting for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time contract opportunity, running from August 10, 2026, to May 27, 2027, with a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week. You’ll be working onsite, partnering closely with a caseload of 1:1 students, and making a meaningful difference in their academic journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of North Carolina
- Demonstrated skill in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluency in interpreting for educational settings
- Previous experience providing sign language services in schools is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working alongside educators, students, and families
- Ability to commit to a full school year onsite
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff using ASL
- Interpret classroom lessons, group activities, and individual sessions to ensure full participation
- Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to provide an accessible and inclusive classroom environment
- Adhere to confidentiality, ethical guidelines, and professional standards at all times
- Monitor and support student engagement, adapting interpreting methods as needed
