Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Ramona, Oklahoma

Make a daily impact in the lives of middle school students as a Sign Language Interpreter through this rewarding contract position. Located near Ramona, OK, this part-time opportunity offers the chance to work closely with an individual student, facilitating communication and fostering inclusion throughout the school day. The current schedule is from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM Central, with potential for full-time hours in the future. Both onsite and virtual (VOCO) candidates will be considered, though onsite is preferred.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
• Experience working in educational or school settings, particularly at the middle school level (preferred)
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Ability to adapt signing to meet individual student needs and developmental level
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a middle school student to facilitate equal access to classroom instruction and activities
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and special education teams to support the student’s educational progress
• Accurately interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa in a school environment
• Exhibit professionalism and confidentiality regarding all student and school information
• Participate in relevant school meetings and professional development, as requested
