Make a meaningful difference this school year as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter supporting a 4th grade student in a general education classroom. This contract position offers 30 hours per week, working a consistent schedule of 7:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. You'll play a vital role in facilitating communication, helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for your student.
Key Qualifications:
- EIPA 4.0 certification preferred, or deep fluency as an ASL paraeducator
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter within school settings is highly desired
- Ability to provide clear, accurate interpretation in both instructional and peer-to-peer contexts
- Strong commitment to uplifting and empowering students with communication differences
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach with educators and staff
Responsibilities:
- Offer 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 4th grade student in a general education classroom, ensuring full access to instruction and classroom activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques and approaches as needed, in response to the student’s language development and social needs
- Foster a positive, encouraging partnership with the student, advocating for their participation and engagement
- Maintain ethical standards of confidentiality and impartiality in all interactions
- Communicate effectively with teachers, educational teams, and support staff to promote the student’s academic and social success
