A full-time contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student. This Monday–Friday role runs from 7:40 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering you the satisfaction of working school day hours while maintaining a rewarding work-life balance.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to accurately interpret spoken language for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school environment preferred
  • Understanding of the unique communication and educational needs of adolescent learners
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
  • Possession of credentials or certification as required by state standards for educational interpreters
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for a middle school student
  • Facilitate clear communication between student, peers, and faculty in both academic and non-academic settings
  • Support the student’s social interactions and participation in all school functions
  • Abide by ethical standards and maintain student confidentiality at all times
  • Consult regularly with teachers and staff to ensure effective accommodations and seamless communication
  • Adjust interpreting techniques to match the student’s language preferences and learning style
