Make a meaningful impact as a contract Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting near Reno, NV. This role primarily supports elementary-aged students, with occasional needs in nearby middle and high schools. Collaborate with educational teams, facilitate communication, and ensure every student has equal access to learning opportunities. This position is itinerant, so flexibility in working at different locations may be required, though the majority of assignments are concentrated at the elementary level. Serve 1-2 students per assignment, offering individualized support where it matters most.

Qualifications:

  • National Certification in Sign Language Interpreting is required.
  • EIP score of 3.5 or higher.
  • Ability to provide timely credentialing documents, including fingerprint clearance and drug screening.
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Comfortable supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality interpreting services, ensuring effective communication between students, teachers, and staff.
  • Adapt interpreting style as needed for various age groups and unique educational settings.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with educational teams as needed.
  • Offer support to students with individualized needs, promoting access and inclusion within the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided.
