If you are a compassionate and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter with experience supporting students in school settings, this rewarding contract role offers you the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of students with diverse needs for the 2026-2027 school year.

This position will work closely with a high school student in an adaptive classroom environment. You’ll play a vital role in providing comprehensive communication services to a student who uses a wheelchair, ensuring accessibility and equal opportunity for participation in educational activities. Full-time, onsite support is required per parental preference, so in-person skills are essential.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required
  • Experience in a school-based setting, preferably with students with special needs
  • Comfort providing services to students using wheelchairs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills
  • Adaptability to support 1:1 students as assignment details evolve

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality interpreting services in an adaptive classroom
  • Facilitate clear, effective communication between students, staff, and peers
  • Collaborate with special education professionals to tailor support strategies
  • Document services provided and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Remain flexible to accommodate any updates regarding 1:1 student assignments

This contract begins August 3, 2026, and continues through May 21, 2027. The schedule offers a consistent 37.5-hour workweek, allowing you to focus deeply on student success and professional relationships throughout the academic year.
