Sign Language Interpreter in Richmond, TX

Step into a part-time role supporting a high school student as a Sign Language Interpreter within a dynamic educational environment. Located near Richmond, TX, this contract position is ideal for professionals experienced in American Sign Language (ASL) who are passionate about student inclusion and communication.

As a language facilitator, you’ll work onsite Fridays—with occasional opportunities to substitute on other days if needed—for the 2026–2027 school year (August 12, 2026–May 27, 2027). This position focuses on instructional times for a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. The student, who uses cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device, relies on ASL for classroom communication due to unintelligible speech and will not require interpreting during lunch or arrivals/dismissals.

What we’re looking for:

• Demonstrated expertise in ASL interpretation, specifically within academic or school settings.
• Experience working with students who have hearing loss or utilize assistive hearing technology.
• Comfort collaborating in a job-share scenario, partnering with another ASL facilitator covering Monday through Thursday.
• Flexibility and readiness to substitute as needed, in case of the primary facilitator’s absence.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering an accessible, supportive learning environment.
• Appropriate credentials and licensure for sign language interpreting within Texas schools.
• Ability to work Fridays (6.5 hours per week), strictly onsite.
