Experience a meaningful part-time contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. This assignment covers the academic year from August 12, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a dedicated Friday schedule in a welcoming educational environment near Richmond, TX.

This role is tailored for someone passionate about fostering communication and understanding for students with unique needs. You will collaborate closely with another language facilitator, stepping in as a substitute on other weekdays when needed.

What you bring:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with previous interpreting experience in educational settings
  • Experience working with students using assistive hearing devices, such as Cochlear implants and ALD systems
  • Ability to navigate behavioral classroom dynamics with patience and empathy
  • Current licensure or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (required)
  • Flexibility to work Fridays consistently and cover as a substitute as needed

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide ASL interpretation for instructional times, facilitating clear communication between student and classroom staff
  • Support a student acclimating to a mainstream classroom environment after recent transitions
  • Collaborate with educators and the other language facilitator for seamless student support
  • Maintain strict professionalism and confidentiality at all times
