Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (RID, NIC, or equivalent preferred)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and other communication modes as needed
  • Experience supporting students, particularly in a school or educational setting
  • Ability to interpret in a variety of classroom subjects and environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff and students
  • Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in a fast-paced school atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom lessons, assignments, and discussions between students and staff
  • Facilitate effective communication to support students’ participation in educational activities
  • Adjust interpreting approach to meet the individual needs of students
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
  • Participate in student meetings, IEPs, and team conferences as required
  • Support students’ social integration during school-related activities
