This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) places you at one of several schools for the academic year, with opportunities existing within Bluffton, Beaufort, and surrounding areas. The role begins in early August and wraps up at the end of May.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3.5 or higher EIPA score required
- Proficient skills in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience supporting D/deaf and hard-of-hearing students in educational settings
- Familiarity with IEP implementation
- Strong ability to interpret in diverse classroom and school-based environments
- Reliability, professionalism, and commitment to ethical interpreting practices
What You’ll Do:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students and staff during instructional time, extracurricular activities, and school events
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate effective communication in mainstream and specialized classrooms
- Maintain confidentiality and align with FERPA and school district privacy guidelines
- Support students’ access to academic and social content, promoting a welcoming learning atmosphere
- Participate in team meetings and student planning processes as needed
