Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Roanoke, Indiana

Step into a vital educational support role as a Sign Language Interpreter, serving a PreK student in a school-based setting near Roanoke, IN. This contract position is available to begin as soon as possible and runs through 5/25/27. With a 30-hour work week, you’ll provide essential communication services, empowering a student to access learning fully and participate in daily school life.

Key Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Sign Language Interpreter certification/credential (EIPA 3.5+ required)
• Experience in educational or child-centered environments preferred
• Excellent command of American Sign Language and spoken English
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to confidentiality

Areas of Responsibility:

• Deliver 1:1 interpreting services for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing PreK student, ensuring smooth communication with teachers, staff, and peers
• Interpret a range of interactions including classroom instruction, school meetings, extracurricular activities, and special events
• Support all aspects of the student’s integration and engagement within the educational environment
• Work closely with teachers and special education staff, following accommodations outlined in the student’s IEP and adhering to school policies
• Maintain records as required and uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct
