Step into a meaningful role supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter in an engaging elementary school environment. In this onsite contract position, you’ll help foster accessible communication and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, enabling them to participate fully in classroom activities. Starting August 12, 2026, and running through May 20, 2027, this opportunity offers both full-day and afternoon-only shifts, making it easier to balance your schedule.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills
  • Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, preferably at the elementary level
  • Possession of a current interpreter license; provisional licenses considered if EIPA is under 4.0
  • Commitment to onsite assignments; remote or hybrid options are not available
  • Ability to collaborate with students, staff, and families to ensure effective communication

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom discussions, assignments, and school events for students
  • Collaborate with teachers and school teams to support learning objectives
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to suit individual student needs
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Provide interpreting services from 7:45am–3:15pm or afternoons from 11:00am–3:15pm, as preferred
