Embark on a rewarding assignment supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity offers a stable, onsite schedule from 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., ensuring your afternoons remain flexible. You’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing communication and academic success for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in educational environments.
  • Eligible for a Nebraska Sign Language Interpreter license; a provisional license is accepted if EIPA score is under 4.0.
  • Comfortable working exclusively onsite throughout the school year.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and a commitment to student growth and success.
  • Previous experience with high school-aged students preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language to ASL—and vice versa—for students during classes, meetings, and school activities.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to provide seamless communication access.
  • Maintain confidentiality and support student independence.
  • Prepare for scheduled lessons by reviewing subject matter and relevant terminology.
  • Provide feedback and updates regarding student progress or needs as requested by the educational team.
